Adults can Dig Deeper at Bodo!

Adult Dig-It Camp

Be part of an archaeological excavation!

Discover the excitement of digging at the Bodo Archaeological Site and learn from a professional archaeologist the basic skills of excavation and artifact identification. The excavation will take place at the Bodo Bison Skulls Site, where a well-preserved bison bone bed thought to represent a 300-500 year old communal bison kill site will be uncovered.

This program will provide participants with a unique educational opportunity that will enhance their understanding of the history of Alberta, First Nations history, and the science of archaeology. This camp focuses on fieldwork, but no previous excavation experience is required.  Participants will make a contribution to the understanding of precontact history in Alberta and on the greater Northern Plains.

Registration in the 4-day camp will include a bonus field trip to a nearby site of interest, including the Mud Buttes, a tipi ring site, a cairn site, a precontact quarry site, Sounding Lake Treaty 6 monument, or a bison rubbing stone site.
