Upcoming Events Summer 2017

  

Celebrate Canadian History with us at the Bodo Archaeological Site and Center. We are hosting events all July long to help promote the history of Alberta’s First nations through Archaeology and other activities. All month long we will have different events and activities for the public, including new art exhibits, artefact survey, and traditional skills
Events include:

  • July 1st-3rd all tours at the Bodo Archaeological Site and Center will be by donation, with all funds go to supporting the educational programs of the Archaeological Site and Center.
  • Bring your Artefacts to Bododay every Wednesday in July from opening to close (9-5pm). Bring in artefacts that you’ve found and the archaeologists will help identify the type and age (Bonus points if you bring in ancient pemmican). No charge.
  • The Bodo Archaeological Site and Center will be participating in the Lake Market events at both Capt. Arye Lake (July 10th) and Shorncliffe Lake (July 24th). Stop by the table, talk to the archaeologists and find out more about the programs we offer
  • Art with an Archaeologist; Paint Night at Bodo will be happening July 11th, from 4-7 pm. The event will include a walk to the archaeological site and survey field, then back to the center to paint a silhouette of a bison or tipi on a starry background. Refreshments will be served. Cost will be $35/ person, and all funds go to supporting the educational programs of the Archaeological Site and Center.
  • Seniors day will be taking place July 14th from 1-5pm at the Bodo Archaeological Site and Center. Folks are welcome to come to the center for a tour, enjoy the Travelling Art Exhibit on display, and refreshments will be served (coffee, tea and cookies)
  • The Bodo Open House will happen on July 22nd from 10-4pm.  There will be traditional pottery stations, atlatl competitions, flint knapping station, traditional ink station, games, artefact survey and a scavenger hunt. There will also be a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs and pop, purchased by Donation. All funds go to supporting the educational programs of the Archaeological Site and Center.

  • The Travelling Art Exhibit is on display at Bodo for the summer! We are proud to host two different series; “Abstractland” from June 21st to July 19th, then “Celebrating the Journey” from July 26th-August 18th.
